Chemistry Open House

April 27, 2024 Open House

Dr. Teprovich and Dr. Eller are excited to announce that this year’s Chemistry and Biochemistry Open House will take place on Saturday April 27th from 2 PM to 4:30 PM in Nobbs Auditorium in Sequoia Hall. The event will feature some exciting demonstrations in the auditorium and a discussion about how chemistry is important in our everyday lives. We will then walk over to one of the departments teaching laboratories where students will get a chance to do some hands on experiments and meet some of the students in the chemistry and biochemistry department. The event will conclude with some large demonstrations in Matador Square, where students will get the chance to try liquid nitrogen ice cream, see some of the science going on in the department, and have a chance to win some prizes!

If you would like to attend please fill out the waiver form with your parent or guardian. After completing the form please email it to Dr. Eller or Dr. Teprovich or print it out and bring it to the event. A limited number of forms will be available on the day of the event. These forms help us to know how many people to expect on the day of the event so we have enough supplies and ice cream for everyone.

If you would like to drive to the event information on visitor parking can be found here.

June 2023 Open House

The event featured demonstrations on the chemistry of energy in CSUN's Planetarium, hands on activities in the chemistry labs in Eucalyptus Hall, and liquid nitrogen ice cream with demonstrations of self carving melons and thermite in Matador Square.

This years Chemistry and Biochemistry Open House was very successful. We had over one hundred attendee's. Thank you to all the chemistry and biochemistry students who helped to make the event successful - Christi Thomas, Israel Manzo, Casey Swafford, Francis Godfrey, Jander Cruz, Chris Pakhanyan, Floyd Padilla, Conner Blair, and Nikita Opel.
